1971 Plymouth Barracuda Has Withstood The Test Of Time [w/Video]

With its unique time capsule condition and fully documented history, this 1971 Cuda is in search of a new home.

Listed in the Dallas auction from November 2 to 5 by Mecum, the classic muscle car remains virtually untouched despite seeing the light of day back in 1971, except for a few professional tunes meant to keep it up and running.

Delivered new on March 11 of the same year, its first owner was a woman who cherished it until 1995, when it was sold to a Portland resident, who kept it until early 2009. This is when Mopar collector Bill Weiman welcomed it into his garage, enjoying its original look for a short period, until selling it to yet another collector, Randy Wilson, of Arizona. The Cuda changed hands once again the following year, when it ended up in the possession of another high-end car collector, only to arrive at its current owner in April of 2013.

Four and a half decades might have passed over it, but the Barracuda still retains its original sheet metal and (most) paint, along with the factory seat covers, carpet, seatbelts, dashboard, door panels, glass and headliner. It also has the original space-saver spare wheel in the trunk, with the inflator canister that was never used.

Some numbers that will interest a serious bidder are the miles covered and the estimated selling price: 46,000 miles (~74,000 km) and $60-$80k, respectively.
