Buddhadeb slams Mamata's TMC for letting Saradha Group grow in Bengal

Breaking his silence over the ongoing chit-gate issue, former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday attacked the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress for allowing Saradha Group to mushroom their business in Bengal.

"The Trinamool Congress and the Saradha Group became an all-in-one entity. The ruling party forced Saradha to launch different newspaper, magazine and television channel one after another on a condition to propagate the party's agenda," Bhattacharjee said at a rally in the North 24-Parganas district.

Bhattacharjee said during their 34-year rule, no Left Front minister had allowed these kinds of chit fund companies to come close to them.

Ridiculing Mamata for the tall proclamation of being "satatar pratik" (symbol of honesty), he said: "People can well understand its meaning now. I have serious reservations about the intention of the government in terms of giving back money to the helpless investors. Do they really want to find a solution to the crisis? People in Bengal are in major distress."

Meanwhile, the investigating officer of Bidhannagar police commissionerate on Sunday got hold of the bank statements of the Sudipta Sen-led chit fund company's bank accounts, police said.
