Diamond boutique Zoya, from the House of Tata, showcased its latest collection titled 'Jewels of the Crown' at The Taj Mahal Hotel on Saturday.

As the title suggests, the elaborate jewellery collection pays homage to the grandeur of aristocracy of bygone eras. Set in diamond, emerald, sapphire, tanzanite and white gold, the choker necklaces, rings and earrings are inspired by various monarchies of Europe, with intricate designs crafted around iconic tiaras, the famous Romanov eggs and royal sceptres of erstwhile kings and queens.

Socialite and luxury consultant to Zoya, Nisha Jamwal hosted the ball and royal banquet for the jewel label. Not surprisingly, the dress code was strictly formal back tuxedos for the men and flowing gowns for the women.

Guests consisted of the society's crème de la crème and nearly every one lived up to the gala event with their elaborate attire of flouncy gowns in layers of tulle and floral patterns, sexy maxi dresses and sharp blazers complete with polished shoes.

Speaking on the new range of baubles, Jamwal said: "Royalty has always had a symbiotic relationship with jewellery, and the jewellery takes its inspiration from the Royal era. People often ask me what is the USP of Zoya, and I say it is a luxury brand that spells trust and creates heirlooms."

In true regal spirit, special jewellery pieces from the previous collections of Zoya were put up for bidding at an exciting private auction held at the venue. A video projection of the interiors of a palace formed the perfect backdrop to heighten the already majestic vibe of the hotel, and doubled aptly as a background for many photo-ops.

With this new range of majestic yet modern ornaments, the Tata group has definitely managed to make a mark in the luxury sector.

Luxe art show celebrates life

The opening night of the three-day exhibition 'Audivaroma', which is held at The Claridges, featured a lot more than just art paintings for the avid collector's eye.

Luxury car brand Audi Gurgaon revved up the evening with a flank of sleek Audi cars standing proud at the entrance. If impressing visitors was the intention, the red and white vehicles definitely managed to make their mark.

The theme for the luxury painting show was the celebration of life, where seven artists presented works on joy, celebration and the good life.

Amid flowing glasses of Spanish wine, sangrias and delectable tapas appetisers, artist Subodh Poddar held a live painting act through the night as he brought the canvas to live with his rendition of a pair of flamenco dancers at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, curator of the show and founder of Dolna, Mithu Basu said: "I wanted the art to be lively, enjoyable and interactive. The collaboration with The Claridges hotel and Audi Gurgaon has been an exciting experience, since the aim is for corporate companies to integrate art into their CSR (Corporate social responsibility) budgets."
