With Zinedine Zidane appearing to be edging closer to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, attention is now turning to what obstacles may stand in the way of an appointment.

One of those obstacles could reportedly be his wife Veronique Zidane, who he met at the age of 17 and married in 1994, while playing for Bordeaux.

Zidane has become one of the leading contenders to succeed Solskjaer, who has led United to just one win in seven Premier League games, dropping them to sixth in the table.

The Frenchman has the managerial pedigree to match taking the job at Old Trafford, having led Real Madrid to two La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

And according to the Daily Record, Zidane is ‘attracted’ to the opportunity that would present itself at United.

But his wife is said to be not so keen on the idea of moving to Manchester, instead preferring him to take a longer break from football having left Madrid in the summer.

Like her husband, Veronique is also from France, though spent most of her childhood growing up in Spain.

She studied for a degree in biology, but instead dropped out to pursue her passion for dancing, joining the Rosella Hightower Dance School in Cannes.

To live that dream she left her family home to stay in the Foyer des Jeunes Travailleurs of Salon-de-Provence, which was housing especially for young workers, while supporting herself by working as a waitress.

She would meet Zidane in that housing, with the now-legendary midfielder fighting to break into AS Cannes’ team.

It took a while for the pair to become an official couple, though they did eventually move into a small studio.

After five years of dating, the couple marred in Bordeaux in May 1994, with the couple having their first son a year later.

As Zidane’s career progressed, Veronique gave up on her own dreams to be a dancer to support him before they settled in Madrid.

They have since gone on to have three more sons, with Veronique following her husband closely from the stands.

She also has had a successful modelling career, with several brand endorsement deals, though it appears she will not want to showcase those talents from England.
