The Brugmansias used to be placed in the Datura genus, like the jimsonweeds and thorn apples. They can be recognized by the flowers opening downward instead of upward.

As for the Daturas, all parts of the plant are poisonous.

Blooming Habits:
The 8 inches long flowers (20 cm) appear in late summer and are extremely fragrant.
