Mumbai Local Train Update: Central Railways announces mega block on Harbour and Central lines for engineering and maintenance work – Check updated timings

Central Railway, Mumbai Division will operate Mega Block on its suburban sections carrying out various engineering and maintenance works on March 24.

The Mumbai local train services on the Harbour and Central Lines will be suspended on Sunday (March 24) due to various engineering and maintenance works. This temporary closure will impact thousands of commuters travelling on these two railway lines in Mumbai.

According to a statement issued by the Central Railways, “Central Railway, Mumbai Division will operate Mega Block o­n its suburban sections carrying out various engineering and maintenance works o­n 24.3.2024 as under: Matunga-Mulund UP and DOWN slow lines from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm and UP & DN Harbour lines between Kurla and Vashi from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.” 

It is to be noted that there will be no mega block on the Western Line, the Transharbour Line and the Uran Line in Mumbai today.

Matunga-Mulund UP and DOWN slow lines from 11.05 am to 3.55 pm

Between 10:14 am and 3:18 pm, DOWN slow line services departing CSMT Mumbai will be rerouted onto the DOWN fast line from Matunga to Mulund stations. These trains will make stops at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund stations before returning to the DOWN slow line at Mulund station. Expect a delay of 15 minutes upon arrival at the destination.

Similarly, UP slow line services departing Thane between 10:58 am and 3:59 pm will be diverted onto the UP fast line between Mulund and Matunga stations. These trains will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion stations before reverting to the UP slow line at Matunga station. Arrival at the destination will be delayed by 15 minutes.

The last DOWN slow line train before the block will be the Titwala local departing CSMT at 09:53 am, while the first train after the block will be the Asangaon local departing CSMT at 3:32 pm.

On the UP slow line, the last train before the block will be the Asangaon local departing Thane at 10:27 am, and the first train after the block will be the Kalyan local departing Thane at 04:03 pm.

UP & DN Harbour lines between Kurla and Vashi from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm

DOWN Harbour line services to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel departing CSMT from 10:34 am to 3:36 pm and UP Harbour line services for CSMT departing Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi from 10:16 am to 3:47 pm will be canceled for maintenance.

The last DOWN Harbour line local train before the block will be the Panvel local departing CSMT at 10:18 am, and the first local after the block will be the Panvel local departing CSMT at 3:44 pm. On the UP Harbour line, the last local before the block will depart from Panvel at 10:05 am, with the first local after the block departing from Panvel at 3:45 pm.

During the block period, special services will operate between CSMT Mumbai and Kurla, as well as Panvel/Vashi. Harbour line passengers are advised to use the Thane-Vashi/Nerul stations between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. The Railway Administration requests passengers to cooperate and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
