Rate this book
Born into a quiet Brahmin family with the aggressive spirit of Kshatriyas, Parshuram is forced to leave his simple life and duties behind when he arrives at his home a little too late after Haihaya King Kartavirya Arjun comes to give his father a visit. Thus starts his quest for revenge which leads him down an unforeseen path. But time is running, and people are dying. It’s up to him to become capable of fighting an army of millions all alone before it’s too late. And an enemy with a thousand arms. Born and raised in Kolkata, Shreya now leads a quiet small town life in the town of Jhansi with her husband, in-laws, and little toddler. Always a firm believer in dreams, and taking action to make them a reality, she still attributes every good thing in her life to be the blessing of her beloved Mahadev and Devi Ma. Having found her true spirit always in writing stories, and her real heroes within pages of old scriptures, she finally took the plunge and wrote her first book The Rise of Parshuram.

The Rise of Parshuram By Shreya Roy Jain is a thrilling mythological fiction delving into the world of Action, Revenge and Emotions. The book begins with a fiery introduction of Parshuram's life. Belonging from a Simple Brahmin family he soon realizes his hidden power that is usually expected in the kshatriya clan (Warrior Cast). And therefore the real crisp of the story begins and he soon embarks on a journey to take revenge from a Thousand arm king Kartavirya Arjun when one day after arriving home he discovers that The king himself has come to visit his father.

Shreya's exceptional writing style and enthralling storytelling adds a touch of Mysticism to the narration. The Character of Parshuram is very well developed and every single detail has been crafted very neatly. Whether it's the incident of his mother's beheading by his own hands or the Fierce Presentation of Anger and Revenge during the fighting scenarios. The book is very deeply written that slowly transports you in the realm of Mythology and Power. The supporting characters like Dharani, Renuka, Jamadagni are equally given specific importance in the portrayal of Parshuram's extraordinary life.

Overall, The Rise of Parshuram is an enthralling and energetic book that paints a vivid picture of The famous mythological character who is also known to be the Sixth incarnation of lord Vishnu. The book beautifully presents a refreshing tale of the well sung warrior and sheds light on the everlasting  message of always following the path of righteousness and Abiding the Dharma. Hence, I'll highly recommend this Gripping Mythological read to all the book lovers.

📍A greatly written mythological tale of Parshuram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

•• INSIGHT: The Rise of Parshuram is the story of the Lord Vishnu’s incarnation and Lord Shiva’s disciple, Parshuram who vowed to kill the evil kshatriyas and make the land worth living again. It starts with his ashram days and ends with war scenes.

•• REVIEW: The author picked up a topic which has not been touched by many and did justice with whatever she has written. I had never come across a book about Parshuram and thus it was a very welcome change from the other mythological novels about Mahabharata or Ramayana. The book gives its readers a fresh reading experience laced with knowledge. Overall a great book showcasing the author’s talent of weaving stories. All the best to the author for her future works.

•• STRENGTH: 1. I found the novel to be well researched and beautifully written.
2. Emotions were all over the pages especially in chapter ‘Homecoming’.
3. Writing style of the author was refreshing and it conveyed the mind of the author pretty well.
4. The flow of the story was maintained theoughout and it was evenly paced.

•• WEAKNESS: 1. I felt that the war scenes were stretched a little bit which made the climax less impressive for me.
2. There was no mention of Dharani (Parshuram’s wife) towards the end of the story which I felt should have been there for readers to know about the effect of the war on the protagonist’s personal life.

•• TARGET READERS: New readers having interest in mythology can give this book a try. I am sure you won’t get disappointed. People from any age group can read this book.

•• GENRE: Mythology

•• RATING: 4.2/5
