The Ponniyin Selvan movie featured Aishwarya Rai playing a dual role – mother and daughter. This received criticism from viewers, who felt that it wasn’t believable for one actor to portray both roles with the same face with very limited aged make-up.
Her body double was unable to convincingly pull off all of the stunts and her character’s aged aspect – long white hair and physique – appeared aesthetically unrealistic. It appears that the director may have unknowingly overlooked these details.
On its second day of release, Ponniyin Selvan has surpassed the ₹100 crore mark in worldwide collection. It is a major success and continues to be a box office hit.
