Mitsubishi Motors is known in India for its products like that of the Lancer, Cedia and Pajero. All of these were brought in multiple numbers and soon became an icon in their respective segments. However, as the competition surged ahead, Mitsubishi products observed a considerable down fall. Now, things are to be on the brighter side of things for Mitsubishi as the brand plans to re-enter in the Indian car market, curtsey its new owners, Nissan.

At the ongoing 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Carlos Ghosn, chairman, Renault Nissan Alliance said that a few days go by before Mitsubishi makes its re-entry in the Indian car market and that too with bang.

The Renault Nissan alliance has launched multiple small cars in the Indian car market from which a number have been doing quite well. Currently on sale cars for Mitsubishi includes the likes of the Pajero Sport and Montero SUV. Both these vehicles are priced in the premium part of the spectrum and hence not mass market products which are to increase revenue.

When re-launched, through Mitsubishi, Nissan could look at offering a couple of mass market products in the hatchback or sedan segments which can offer a tough competition to the existing rivals.

The cars with which Mitsubishi could make its entry in India could very well be the next-generation Lancer sedan and the currently under development XM crossover MPV.
