5 UNIQUE DURGA PUJA PANDALS

1. RAJDANGA NABA UDAH SANGHA

Rajdanga Naba Uday Sangha highlights marine pollution this year.

As rising pollution levels and water scarcity are emerging as fundamental challenges for people across the planet, Durga puja committees in Kolkata have come up with a theme named 'Ashani Sanket' (Bengali) in English Distant Thunder to raise awareness on environment conservation.

2. MUDIALI CLUB

Mudiali club, which is located in South Kolkata, has been celebrating Durga Puja for 88 years.

This year, they took an initiative to go one step ahead to conduct eco-friendly puja.

This year, they have decided that the entire decor in the puja pandal will be lit up through solar power. On the grid, solar systems have been set up in pandal.

3. FD BLOCK: TRIBAL CLAN EXTINCTION

FD block of Saltlake has depicted a fictional story of a tribal clan which is on the verge of extinction.

The committee has made an artificial village amid the jungle using eco-friendly products or without any plastic products.

4. COIN REPLICA SINCE 1947

The Babubagan Sarbojanin Durgotsav Puja pandal at Dhakuria in South Kolkata has come with this unique theme of "Maa Tujhe Salaam." The pandal's theme is in the spirit of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

"The theme is to showcase the independence movement with the coins that have been commemorated since 1947. It's 75th year of our independence, it's our way of paying a tribute," said Prof Sujata Dutta, the creator of the theme.

The idol of Goddess Durga too is in the shape of a coin, which they feel that the government should make a commemorative coin of Goddess Durga to celebrate UNESCO'S heritage tag.

"The Goddess will be in the shape of a huge coin herself. She will not be immersed on Dashami but she, along with all the other coin structures, will be kept in the Alipore Jail museum for public showcase" said the theme maker.

5. VATICAN CITY IN KOLKATA

The Sreebhumi Puja Pandal in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, is a well-known pandal that annually chooses the most creative theme.

This year, they have replicated the Vatican City’s St. Peter’s Basilica in Kolkata, In addition, they are commemorating the Golden Jubilee of the Sreebhumi Sporting club, which doubles the celebration.
