Milind Deora on Sunday confirmed his resignation from the Congress party's primary membership, terming it a "conclusion of a significant chapter" in his political journey. The former Congress leader has joined the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

    Milind Deora is the son of Congress veteran Murli Deora. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University in the United States.

  • Milind Deora served as the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Communications and Information Technology and Shipping during the Congress tenure from 2012 to 2014. He was a Member of the 15th Lok Sabha from the Mumbai South constituency and also the president of the Mumbai regional congress committee.

  • Deora won the 2004 elections with a margin of 10,000 votes against the BJP's Jaywantiben Mehta. In the 2009 Lok Sabha election, Deora was again elected from Mumbai South Constituency, this time by a margin of 1,12,682 votes.

  • Following the resignation of Rahul Gandhi and losses in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Deora resigned as the Mumbai Congress party president. Further, he recommended the temporary establishment of a group of three senior leaders to monitor the Mumbai City unit till the Vidhan Sabha elections.

  • On the personal front, Deoria married Pooja Shetty on November 9, 2008. She heads the film production company Walk Water Media and is the daughter of film producer Manmohan Shetty, former Adlabs chairman, who established Walkwater Media Ltd in 2007.
