Sunil Sharma, director of 'Jaipur Dialogues', has been fielded by the Congress from Rajasthan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sharma's candidature raised several eyebrows. Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday quipped that Sunil Sharma must have undergone "some sort of Pauline epiphany".

"He must have undergone some sort of Pauline epiphany on the road to 24 Akbar! This is just one of several dozen tweets from his handle attacking me," Tharoor wrote on X, as he shared a 2021 post from the Jaipur Dialogues handle that mocked him and Rahul Gandhi.

Notably, Jaipur Dialogues is a digital platform that is popular for its content promoting far-right ideology. It has previously made remarks against Congress.

However, the platform's director, Sunil Sharma's, name featured in Congress's third list, which was released by the party on Thursday.

Among the Rajasthan candidates are Kuldeep Indora from Ganganagar constituency, Sangeeta Beniwal from Pali, Umeda Ram Beniwal from Barmer, and Urmila Jain Bhaya from the Jhalawar-Baran constituency. Meanwhile, Congress has left the Sikar constituency for it's INDIA bloc partner CPM.

After being chosen by Congress for Lok Sabha polls, Sunil Sharma said that people of Jaipur are eager to bring change in the impending elections.

"Jaipur has not been able to secure its place among the top 25 clean cities in the country, which is quite painful. If Jaipur continues like this, it will not remain liveable, hence the people of Jaipur want a change. And I believe that this election will be an election of momentous change," he said while speaking to news agency ANI.

Notably, the ruling BJP is yet to announce its candidate for the Jaipur constituency. The Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan will take place in two phases, on April 19 and April 26.
