How to book Shimla toy train: Step by step guide
Follow these simple steps to book the Shimla to Kalka toy train.
The Kalka-Shimla Toy Train is said to be one of the most scenic railway journeys in India. It offers a grand view of pine-covered hill tops, flora and fauna, and the typical picture which makes the hills, queen of hills. The Shimla toy train was declared as a heritage site in 2007 by the Himachal Pradesh State Government and in 2008 it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The toy train ranks at fourth position in the world heritage list of UNESCO
It was built-in 1903, this toy train ride is one of India's most incredible feats of engineering covering a staggering 102 tunnels, 864 bridges, and 919 stunning curves
The Kalka- Shimla toy train route is spread across 96 km from Kalka to Shimla. It has four types of train rides:
- Shivalik Deluxe - 500 Rs
- Rail Motor - 300 Rs
- Himalayan Queen - Rs 260
- Shimla Kalka Express - Rs 70
To book the Shimla toy train, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Go to the official website of IRCTC i.e. irctc.co.in
Step 2: Register yourself
Step 3: Click on the link which says 'plan my travel'
Step 4: Select the railway stations, here you will select from Shimla (SML)
Step 5: Fill up the required details, like the date of travel, type of ticket.
Step 6: Click on 'book ticket'
Step 7: The ticket reservation page will appear where you will have to check if the train details are the same as you opted for
Step 8: Make the payment
Step 9: After you make the payment, you will receive an SMS and/or an email with all the ticket details which you will have to take a print out of (provided you've opted for e-ticket option)
Step 10: There are two options for the ticket, i-ticket which will be delivered to an address you submit and e-ticket of which you'll have to take a print out.
