The sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu is known as Parshuram. And this year Parshuram Jayanti falls on May 03, 2022. As per the Hindu rituals, Lord Parshuram is believed to be immortal and the aggressive avatar that prevents the earth from evil powers. His incarnation led to protect the earth by exterminating sinful, destructive and irreligious monarchs that looted resources and neglected the duties of the kings.

Parshuram was born to sage jamadagni and Renuka.He is an expert warrior and the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva. After ardent worship and watching the devotion of Parshuram, Lord Shiva gifted him a war weapon named Parshu, which means an axe. The weapon is a war weapon that was used by Parshuram against Kshatriyas' cruelty. The Parshuram Jayanti occurs on Shukla Paksha, Tritiya tithi of Vaishaka month.

The celebrations of Parshurama and the purpose behind its incarnation are done during the Pradosh Kala. The day is followed when Tritiya prevails. Parshurama is not worshipped like Ram and Krishna, but there is one major temple present at the holy place of Pajaka near Udupi. Lord Parshurama has temples based on the western coast of India.

As per the Kalki Purana, Parashurama is the martial guru of Shri Kalki the 10th and the final avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is also believed, according to Ramayana, that Parshurama came to the betrothal ceremony of Sita and Lord Rama.

PARSHURAM JAYANTI 2022: RITUALS

Lord Parshuram is not worshipped like other gods and goddesses.

Therefore, on this day, Laxminarayan puja is done through offerings made like tulsi, fruits, flowers, Chandan and kumkum.

As Parshuram is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, devotees chant Vishnu Sahasranamam with devotional songs and mantras overnight.

People also keep a day-long fast starting early in the morning before sunrise and ending after sunset on Parshuram Jayanti.

They also make donations and charity, like providing grain, clothes and other items to Brahmin and the needy.
