Ten years ago, a vivacious Geet charmed her way into a sombre Aditya's heart in Jab We Met and made us all fall in love. That it was the last film that Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor worked in together before parting ways only made it more special for fans.

In fact, when Shahid's daughter Misha and Kareena's son Taimur were born just months apart, the hashtag #Tamisha began trending, and Twitter users were already imagining them in Jab We Met 2, two decades down the line.

As Imtiaz Ali's timeless film completes ten years, here are five things we bet you didn't know about the film:

1. Bobby Deol was supposed to play Aditya

Bobby Deol revealed in an interview that he was the original choice to play the brooding Aditya, which was eventually played by Shahid Kapoor. Apparently, he reached out to Imtiaz Ali after watching Socha Na Tha (which starred Bobby's cousin Abhay Deol) and suggested that they collaborate. The director had the script of Jab We Met ready (which was then titled Geet), and Bobby came on board.

In fact, it was Bobby who recommended his Ajnabee co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan for the role of Geet. However, the film was stuck in limbo when no producer wanted to bankroll the film. Kareena, too, was not keen to do Imtiaz Ali's film.

It came as quite a shock to Bobby when he read in the newspapers that Jab We Met had taken off, and that Kareena had given her nod to it. However, he himself was nowhere in the picture, as apparently, Kareena had got her then-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor to replace him.

2. Geet's character inspired Anushka Sharma to pursue acting

Anushka Sharma is one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood today. But did you know that it was Jab We Met that inspired her to pursue acting as a career? Anushka, who worked with Imtiaz Ali in Jab Harry Met Sejal, revealed during the trailer launch of the film, "I have been waiting to work with Imtiaz for the longest time. I remember watching Jab We Met in Bikaner with my parents and I felt this is an amazing film. Looking at the character of Geet (essayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan) I felt I should be doing films."

3. The 'shady Hotel Decent receptionist' has been doing theatre for over 20 years

Who can forget the receptionist at the shady Hotel Decent and his "ekdum kadak"? The actor's name is Teddy Maurya, and he served as an art director on Jab We Met. Teddy told ScoopWhoop, "Many actors declined the role because it was just a small appearance and Imtiaz (Ali) was just wondering what to do and then he looked at me." Teddy has also been involved with theatre for over two decades, and has dabbled in several aspects, from set design to acting.

4. The title of Jab We Met was the result of an audience poll

Imtiaz Ali could not choose between the titles - Punjab Mail, Ishq Via Bhatinda and Jab We Met. It was via an audience poll that the title of the film was finalised. Incidentally, it was Shahid Kapoor's father Pankaj Kapur who suggested Jab We Met as the film's title.

5. Tamannaah stepped into Kareena's shoes in Jab We Met's Tamil remake

Jab We Met was remade in Tamil as Kanden Kadhalai. Bharath and Tamannaah stepped into Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan's shoes respectively. The film released in 2009, but failed to create the magic of Jab We Met at the box office.
