Richa Chadha says ‘rejected a script on motherhood with no female co-writer’

During the interview, she mentioned that for her to work with someone, she needs to be sure that the person opposite her is smart as well.
WHEN RICHA CHADHA REJECTED A SCRIPT ON MOTHERHOOD
Elaborating on an incident where she rejected a script by a young boy for not having a female co-writer, Richa recounted, "I've got offered a script recently by a boy who was under 30. He wrote a script about motherhood. So I asked him whether he has a female co-writer or a director? What is he gonna do? He said, ‘Ya, we’ll look at a female director, but I think I know women. I asked him what his research on this. He said, ‘Actually, I have a mother.’ So when I sensed that I'd be the smartest person on set, and I have to crack the whip on everyone to get them to do their own jobs, I said no."
She defended her decision and explained, “How am I going to grow if the person sitting next to me is going to rely on my brains, my intelligence, my character, my abilities, my talent? It has to work both ways, no?”

The actress also revealed that she recently worked with an insecure actress who tried changing her script and also blocked her light.
Richa Chadha was last seen in ‘Fukrey 3,’ which has already crossed Rs 75 crore at the Indian box office. She also had a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj's ‘Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley.’ Richa will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi’ on Netflix India. Richa also recently wrapped up her international debut film ‘Aaina’, an Indo-British production.
She is busy co-producing with Ali Fazal for their home production. They will release their wedding documentary soon under their home banner.
