Shashi Tharoor remembers school senior Rishi Kapoor with emotional note: He has gone to a better world

Rishi Kapoor died in Mumbai today at the age of 67. Shashi Tharoor paid tribute to the veteran actor on Twitter.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor remembered his "senior schoolmate" Rishi Kapoor in a heartfelt post on Twitter after the veteran actor died in Mumbai on April 30. Rishi Kapoor was 67. Tharoor and Rishi Kapoor studied at the Campion School in Mumbai as the actor was his senior.

In his post, Tharoor also mentioned that he had competed with Rishi Kapoor in inter-class dramatics in 1967-68.

"Saddened to hear that my senior schoolmate at Mumbai's Campion School, Rishi Kapoor, whom I competed with in 'inter-class dramatics' in 1967-68, has gone to a better world. From the romantic hero of Bobby to the mature character actor of his last films, he evolved remarkably. RIP," Shashi Tharoor tweeted.

In a separate tweet, Shashi Tharoor also shared a viral still of Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan from their 2013 film D-Day. Irrfan died in Mumbai on April 29.

"Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan on another journey... Off to the next World before the rest of us get there. As a friend wrote to me, it's God who's taken their dates now," Tharoor tweeted.

Rishi Kapoor, an acclaimed actor, has starred in memorable films including Kabhie Kabhie, Karz, Chandni and Amar Akbar Anthony. He was last seen in the web series The Body on Netflix.

Rishi Kapoor was admitted to HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday morning, his brother Randhir Kapoor said. The senior actor was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and he returned to India from New York in September 2019 after his cancer treatment.

Rishi Kapoor is survived by his son, actor Ranbir Kapoor, daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and wife Neetu Singh.
