Twinkle Khanna recalls 'starving' during 'Badshah' shoot: Felt I would explode

Twinkle Khanna, who has quit acting, recently looked back at her shooting days for the popular film ‘Badshah’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The actor recalled how she starved herself while shooting the song ‘Mohabbat Ho Gayee’ from the film. Khanna mentioned how she felt like a gas canister as she was surviving on chickpeas.

TWINKLE KHANNA ON STARVING DURING ‘BADSHAH’

Twinkle Khanna, in a recent interview with News18, took a trip down the memory lane and recalled how she starved during the shooting of Badshah’s song. The actor debunked the myth about female stars dieting for their roles and said, “I know you see all these actresses saying that they don’t diet and they eat everything; it’s not true, most of them are starving. I was starving, if you want your stomach to be flat in all those catsuits that we used to wear—I don’t know why we wore them. This was my own brainwave that I’m going to live on channa. For some reason, being Gujarati, I felt that was also cheap, and you know, I could get it easily wherever I went. So, this was my diet.”

Further, she mentioned how SRK had to lift her up in the song ‘Mohabbat Ho Gayee’ and she feared that she would explode like a gas canister. “In this song, he had to lift me up, and I was so scared that I would explode like the gas canisters in the Parliament, but I didn’t. So if you see my teeth clenching there, other things are also clenching and just holding on, but yes, I survived that bit as well," she added.

The actor recently launched her latest book, ‘Welcome to Paradise.’ Other than this, Twinkle has been a part of various films like ‘Mela’, ‘International Khiladi’ and ‘Barsaat’ among others.
