Shakeela was NOT a porn star: First look of biopic starring Richa Chadha out
The first look of adult actress Shakeela's biopic has been unveiled by the makers. The first look goes with the tagline, "Not a porn star".
Actress Shakeela was famous for her adult films which did great business at the Malayalam box office. She had developed a loyal fan base in Mollywood and Kollywood. Now, a biopic based on her life is getting made by filmmaker Indrajith Lankesh.
The makers of Shakeela biopic released the first look of the film with the tagline, 'Not a porn star'. Her films that graced the screens in the 90s were popularly known as soft porn and many labelled her as a porn star.
However, the untitled biopic promises to change the image that Shakeela had by delving deep into her life and her formative years in the industry.
Actress Richa Chadha has been roped in to play the titular role and Shakeela will be playing a cameo role in her biopic. According to the makers, Shakeela met Richa and the rest of the team to give them necessary inputs about her life.
Pankaj Tripathi and Rajeev Pillai will be playing important roles in the film. While Pankaj will be portraying the role of south superstar, Rajeev will be seen as Shakeela's romantic interest.
Speaking about the biopic, director Indrajith Lankesh said, "I was unaware of Shakeela until I worked with her in a film in 2003. Instantly, I wanted to make a film on her. We always see rags-to-riches stories but this is a rags-to-riches-to-rags story. She is a woman who has seen peaks of luxury and then lost it all. To see how and what happened to her life is what really sparks great interest."
