Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Date, auspicious timing and Puja method

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 19 and will conclude on September 28. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi and Kalank Chaturthi.

Lord Ganesha is considered the most revered deity, and hence, every endeavour begins with the worship of Lord Ganesha.

According to the Hindu calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi is observed on the fourth day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of the Bhadrapada month. The festival commemorates the birth of the Hindu god Ganesha

According to the lunar calendar, Ganesh Chaturthi will be observed on September 19 this year. 

Ganesh Chaturthi 2023

The Chaturthi Tithi  begins on September 18 at 12:39 PM and ends on September 19 at 1:43 PM.

The auspicious time for puja on September 19 is from 11:01 AM to 1:28 PM. During this time, you can perform the installation of Lord Ganesha's idol and the worship.

Auspicious timings 

After taking a bath in the morning, take the idol of Lord Ganesha and clean it. Then, fill a vessel with water and place the idol of Lord Ganesha in it.

Puja method 

Afterwards, offer sindoor (vermilion), durva grass, ghee, and a bhog (offering) of 21 modaks to Lord Ganesha.
