Wed. May 28 - This is New Moon night, marking the central part of the brief monthly period when the Moon goes into hiding, leaving dark skies for imagers, sketchers and deep sky observers.
Fri. May 30 - A very thin sliver of Moon will be seen low in the western sky after sunset this evening. If you spot it, look about the width of your three middle fingers above it to locate Mercury. A picture of a very thin crescent Moon taken by Jim Failes can be seen here:
