Pathiramanal
The island derives its name from the word 'Pathiramanal' which means 'sands of night'. Lying in the middle of Venbanad Lake, the island houses birds like pintail duck, common teal, darter and Indian shag etc. The place is only accessible via backwater cruises, speed boat and motor boat. The scenic beauty of both sides of the lake as well as that of the island is mind blowing. It is home to many rare varieties of migratory birds from different parts of the world
Marmala Waterfalls
Marmala Waterfall is a waterfall which is located a few kilometres away from Erattupetta, Marmala Waterfalls, call you for an adventurous walk through the rocky terrain amidst the scenic village. It's a year-round destination but the best time to visit Marmala Falls is during early monsoon
Thangal Hills
Thangal para stands at a height of more than 2500 feet above the sea level near Vagamon hill range. This place can be reached via Vagamon which is well connected with Kottayam as well as Idukki. The Thangal para is a unique rock formation on top of a rocky hill which has some devotional and spiritual significance among devotees The whopping boulder at the top of the hill houses the mausoleum of Sheikh Fariduddin (mazaar/ dargaah of Sheikh Fariduddin) and is visited by thousands of Muslim pilgrims annually during the festival of Urs. Just below the rock boulder at the bottom of the hill, is a mosque used by the devotees and the locals to offer their prayers.
Ilaveezhapoonchira
Ilaveezhapoonchira is a tourist destination located in Melukavu village in Kottayam three beautiful hillocks Mankunnu, Kudayathoormala and Thonippara, Poonchira is a place of picturesque charm. Legends say that the pool here was a bathing place for Panchali the legendary heroine of Mahabharata
Illikkal Kallu

Nadukani
The bird’s eye view from this hill station in Kottayam is sought out annually by people numbering into the thousands. Nobody wishes to miss out on the panoramic view of mountain ranges on one side and that of the River Muvattupuzha on the other. Lying at an altitude of 3000 ft above the sea level atop a hill, this place also affords a mesmerizing view of mountains on northern side and that of River Muvattupuzha.
Poonjar Palace
The Poonjar Palace in Meenachil taluk is a glorious testimony to the regal opulence of a bygone era. With the palace walls, is an extra ordinary royal collection of antiques and exquisite furniture which include a palanquin, a thoni carved out of a single piece of wood for ayurvedic massages, huge chandeliers, palm leaf engravings, jewel boxes, a variety of lamps, sculptures of Nataraja (dancing Lord Siva ), grain measures, statues and weapons. A unique couch preserved here is taken out once a year for ritualistic purposes. Near the palace is an amazing replica of the Madurai Meenakshi Temple
Bird Sanctuary Kumarakom
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is situated at Kumarakom in of Kottayam district in the state of Kerala, on the banks of Vembanad Lake Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is among the most popular bird watching spots in the country. Spread out over 14 hectares, one comes across numerous rare avian species in these parts. Located on the banks of the Vembanad Lake in Kottayam, one gets to see a variety of migratory birds that flock in thousands, ranging from places like the Himalayas to Siberia.
Kottathavalam
A fascinating cave carved out of rock surface is Kottathavalam lying on the top of a Murugan Hills at Kurisumala Kottathavalam A magnificent cave which can be reached by the rock cut steps near the Muruganmala is perfectly interspersed with a naturally green cover that spreads out in all directions. Inside it, people can look at chair shaped carvings, along with depictions of famous legends including Madurai Meenakshi, Ayyappa, Murugan and Kannaki.
Mozart Art Gallery
llikkal Kallu is a monolith located on top of the Illickal Malaa in the Kottayam The journey here is in itself an eventful one. After a thrilling drive negotiating hairpin curves and a hike uphill, there is path which feathers out to Illickal Kallu. You may tread this path or just stay put and feel the might of this imposing muscular rock. The breathtaking aerial view of the surroundings and billows of mists that glide past shrouding the towering hill is one magnificent sight.
