Is the genetic code in humans the same as other organisms?‼️
While almost all organisms use the genetic code presented in the Figure, there are a few exceptions. Interestingly, in the mitochondria of cells, the stop codon UGA codes for the amino acid tryptophan, and AUA is methionine, not leucine. There are similar differences in the chloroplasts of plants. Still, the number of exceptions is very small, and thus the genetic code may be considered “universal.” However, scientists are actively looking for signs of life on other planets in our solar system and in planetary systems around other stars, which may cause us to revise our use of the term "universal."

My Random thoughts again:
There was a very peculiar realisation from a trivial observation in one of the lab discussions ie, a genetically modified strain shows better growth characteristic than the wild type strain which led me to question why evolution did not favour that particular genetic circuit in its grand course of optimising survival. However, these organisms were not able to withstand abiotic stress that it may witness in a natural environment. What I failed to perceive is the fact that the ability to grow does not single handedly determine survival. Sure, it's a major contributor but it's not the only determinant of successful selection. It is fascinating to learn life lessons from what we classify as inferior in the scale of evolution.
Human-evolution story rewritten by fresh data and more computing power
Humans did not emerge from a single region of Africa, suggests a powerful modelling study. Rather, our ancestors moved and intermingled for millennia. The widely held idea that modern-day humans originated from a single region of Africa is being challenged. Models using a vast amount of genomic data suggest that humans arose from multiple ancestral populations around the continent. These ancient populations — which lived more than one million years ago — would have all been the same hominin species but genetically slightly different.
