Let me talk about my #internship at Bapuji Rural Enlightenment and Development Society. BREDS is a registered not-for-profit NGO in Visakhapatnam, working for the past 39 years in various fields like #education, #womenempowerment, etc.
The crucial part was to understand BREDS. On our first day, we got a brief introduction to the functions of an #NGO, how it receives funds, and more.
One thing was clear - ✨Humility is important!✨
1️⃣ I spent the first week comprehending BREDS's profile. Our project was "Research study on CSR Companies and Donor Agencies to mobilize resources for Farmer Produce Organizations under strengthening and promotion of #FPOs project". I got skilled in formulating a Letter of Intent for these #CSR companies.
2️⃣ In the subsequent weeks, the work got better. We had a list of 500 CSR Companies! I researched their priorities, CSR activities, previous projects, and contact details. Few companies did not have websites, few lacked contact details, and a few had no CSR activities! It was no cakewalk. But how is it fun if it's not challenging?
3️⃣ We contacted every company, asking if they wanted to collaborate with BREDS for CSR activities. It was a unique experience. Some said yes, and most of them said no. I quite understood Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S (IYKYK). It was astonishing to know that CSR departments don't exist in a few firms. I authored emails with BREDS's profile, projects, and our Letter of Intent.
4️⃣ Toward the end of the internship, I drafted a list of International Donor Agencies. It is fascinating how NGOs, CSR companies, and #Donor agencies work together and make lives better. BREDS's founder, Mr. Ramakrishna Raju, treated us like family. On the last day, Mr. Ramakrishna Raju took us for a scrumptious lunch with the staff! Food throughout the #internship was lovely :)
📚💡 The experience sharpened my attention to detail and connected me to a network of experts in CSR and Donor Agencies. It challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and adapt to new environments. The real-world challenges are the real deal! The dedication of the BREDS team inspired me to make a positive impact on the environment and society. 💙
