Applying Gandhiji's Principle in the Corporate World

A new icon of management, Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Indian Nation, has been discovered by business leaders worldwide. While leading the nation in the struggle for independence, Gandhi held a beacon for some strategies of leadership that are critical in the corporate world today.

As more than just a political leader who gained independence for the country, the Mahatma is now being rediscovered. He is seen as a master strategist and an exemplary leader whose ideas and strategies, especially in India, are of great significance to the corporate world.

For the organization to benefit in the global market, Gandhi's notion of non-violence and his high moral standards must emulate today's leaders.

Mahatma Gandhi's techniques lead to management principles

Know your Competitor - Mahatma Gandhi had done a SWOT analysis as a great marketing brain. He knew his rivals and competitiveness. He knew that if all he did was walk and talk about peace, it would be almost impossible for the British to kill him. To his benefit, he used their weakness to be Successful.

Shared Vision and Core Values - The lessons Gandhi provides for today's corporate leaders are to design a transformation plan for their organization. Mahatma shared vision with their stakeholders. To create a shared vision, corporate managers should invest time and effort and define values while initiating the change.

Cooperation – For a company's chief executive, Cooperation is an essential parameter of his employee’s loyalty and goodwill to win. Coercion and compulsion cannot operate a business enterprise. Only by providing adequate opportunities for their self-development and self-management can voluntary Cooperation be secured by the employees.

Strategic Alliances - Mahatma Gandhi had an excellent public relations network and a perfect relationship with the press. Every firm should have excellent strategic allies to expand its network through shared resources.

Collectivism – In a company based purely on a project, each team governs itself. The team leader is accountable and responsible for each team member's work and whether the work is finished on time. For a team environment to succeed, team cooperation is essential and essential.

Self-Reliance - Teams are largely self-contained entities or units within a project organization that provides their clients with a product or service. However, these teams sometimes need to rely on other teams for ideas and information, thus enforcing the need for mutual cooperation.

Although Gandhi lived many years ago, for organizations today to compete in a global market, his leadership principles must be considered. His high moral standards are what today's leaders should strive to attain. His belief in non-violence is a principle that all project managers must understand to lead a diverse community that is culturally mixed.

Hierarchical organizations are a thing of the past, where executives rule, and the worker is just a commodity. Organizations need to restructure themselves into a more equal and fairer workplace where every employee contributes to the corporate vision. There must be a shared value system within the organization, and a clear sense of honesty and trust must permeate throughout.
