How unfortunate is this Gandhiji-Bashing? Aren't we ungrateful and thankless? How sad!

How unfortunate is this Gandhiji-Bashing? Aren't we ungrateful and thankless? How sad!

Its just nothing other than ourselves being unfaithful, disloyal, treacherous, thankless and insincere (and we shall deem ourselves to be so) if we continue to do this Gandhiji-bashing in the name of some new research or in the haste of glorifying another patriot. The contributions of all the leaders can't just be the same. Gandhiji served this Nation in many ways and for many causes; and freedom-fight was just one among those though it happened to be his Flag-ship in the outcomes of his nationalistic doings.

The postmortem now being done how the freedom had been given to us by British (or that we had earnt & secured from British), discrediting & demeaning Gandhiji is somehow irrational. The word, "Mahatma" hasn't been given to any; and only Gandhiji deserved it. He was the apostle of peace and the priest of Truth & Non-Violence. His methods had universal acceptance, doesn't matter if we don't know how to quantify the effectiveness of same. He was simple. He didn't make any money. He had lived a saintly life. He didn't bother about his own family and never promoted his sons for any legacy or political inheritance. He had lived on principles. He had coined a new word, "HariJan" to bring around the equality for all and worked for total removal of untouchability. He had always the poor & commons in his vision of development; and gave his talisman in that thought. The Rural India was his focus. The public necessities were in his fork of appreciation always. He had spent more than 20 years in jails. He had attended all round-table conferences and meetings & sessions with British in his simple attire and represented the common Indian. He took to fasting whenever there were conflicts, strikes, loots and belligerent moves by others around Hindu-Muslim agitations and uncalled for fights. He did everything to harmonise the societies. His "Experiments with Truth" are great lessons in that line of reasoning and in all humility. Perhaps every important city in the world has Gandhiji's Statue; and he had inspired millions of people. This country got known & valued as Gandhi's Nation at one point of time. He had made a remarkable change in the mindsets of the rebels and belligerent men. He had served the cause of Peace. He had become a victim of his own attributes and ways; and finally the people were so thankless that they had shot him in return of his stupendous achievements in redefining what a human is.

Today, unfortunately and insensitively we have become over-analytical, extra-nationalistic and hyper-patriotic in our thoughts and writings against this Mahatma. We stand out very thankless and keep on bashing him. An idiot was criticising in his comments about how he happened to be "The Father of the Nation". One goon was questioning sarcastically about the Mother of the Nation in a total blemish. Some were criticising his Brahmacharya openly, attributing to him some scandals and lustful acts. How horrible! I am terribly pained to see such horrifying Facebook columns and remarks against Gandhiji this time on 02nd October. There were other treacherous writings. Just awful! Awfully thankless too!

People called him Mahatma for his simplicity, humility and saintliness. Today, the stories are scattered all over about him being immoral and some new relationships of lustful nonsense are being brought around meaninglessly about this Great man & thrust upon him without any evidence. All on just hearsay! All without evidence! The people who are criticising him are modern Indians and with modern thoughts built around selfishness, uncontrolled urge to paint others better and demolish Gandhi's credentials in the process through their meaningless beliefs and baseless writings. There is a great story thrown all around that he had appeased British and played hand-in-glove with them. What a treacherous and putrid thought!

Yes; Gandhi never wanted us to remain thankful to him. He never wanted us to call him Mahatma. He never asked the title of "The Father of the Nation". He never asked for any award or sought any reward. He never wanted any political position or chair. He never made any money through political means. Nor he had brought up his family members and handed over any political inheritance & led them to any dynastic presence. He had only worked for the poor and oppressed. He had given his life for us and these Indians.

Last word, he wasn't fully assassinated on 30th January, 1948. Actually he is truly assassinated now by these thankless and insincere people who are pseudo-researchers, extra-nationalists and hyper-patriots. He is really assassinated now with the kind of meaningless writing, abuse, repulsion and rebuke against him. He didn't deserve this thanklessness. He doesn't deserve this treatment for the sin not committed by him of being called "Father of the Nation". He shall not deserve this shameless barking against him by those unfaithful and treacherous guys.

I am very upset to see this irrational change & provocative writings against Gandhiji in these modern times; and that too by those who had never read his biography, "My Experiments with Truth" nor any publication by Western scholars and journalists. Those who didn't know anything about him had tried to make some dirty comments against him in the Facebook. So sad!

Bharthruhari says, "The majesty of an elephant is never lost even if the dogs bark at it; and the depth of an ocean is not compromised even if you throw some stones into it". Gandhiji stands very tall even if there are some mediocre and mindless guys who continue to go on bashing him endlessly. His stature and His being Mahatma can never get tarnished by such immature, unprofessional and thankless beings. Gandhiji shall stay for ever in the hearts of True Indians in spite of all this perverted nuisance & unholy noise against him.

God bless these nuisance-doers & noise-makers anyway!

In continuation ....

May I add further! The doubts continue as I do see in the minds of many.... doesn't matter!

What people are picking up from his (Gandhi’s) whole life are some of the incidents which are wrong, many of them are perhaps retrospectively wrong and many of them are like "what if" imaginations. Isn't it sad that these mindless critics have not taken a cue from Gandhi's good aspects; but they are so determined to expose all about his dark side and then make him a villain/bad boy of Indian history. Oh My GOD!!!! What baffles me deeply is that the same Indians who obtain driving licence / passport by bribing the authorities, who are not ashamed of littering in public places, who are not ashamed of monstrous crimes against women, who speak against India in foreign nations, who don’t follow the fundamental rules and laws of the land, who don’t dare to confront a goon/bad guy and turn their faces away at crime-scenes, who don’t have the courage to stand against day to day racism/casteism/regionalism and what not, come up with loads of arguments to belittle Gandhi. You do see them with no remorse too.

Yes; there must have been some negative aspects of Gandhi, but rather than highlighting and harping on them, why not take some cues from his strive for goodness? And why not follow from what good he did? Is it good to damage his name and keep talking ill of this man after so many years of his death without realising the great communal services done by him selflessly? Mistakes or negative sides of Gandhi's life only confirm that he was also a mortal not some God. But aren't we all? All of us have some dark side; but rather than looking at ourselves on some soul-search through a mirror of introspection and striving to be better persons, we try to bring down Gandhi and prove that he was as despicable/selfish as we all are. What’s the point? Are we happy in bringing his image and credibility down? How many of us have done those great deeds of him? We lack a true perspective; and we just wander around with a negative mind and skewed intelligence.

Gandhi is the only phenomena in Indian history when the "Mango People" of this subcontinent came to heartily revere someone as their leader; and he had brought a kind of mostly intellectual freedom struggle-format of nonviolence to common men. That format was unheard of by anyone until then. We had always believed that any protest would surely mean a business of violence in demand. Even today our guys are burning buses, destroying Govt property, smashing out public shops, breaking down the systems and conducting bandhs of stupidity and such violent means to show any sense of protest. We still have not come to terms with this Gandhian format. Therefore he appears to be stupid and silly; and his acts seem to be amusing like someone said. Maybe, perhaps, for the first time in Indian history, the Mango people of India were united for a common cause under his leadership. That format had also disappeared thereafter. Only a few remember about his Satyagraha; and still they are poor mango people alone. These extraordinary people of non-mango kinds are all out to hate Gandhi, demean him, criticise him and rubbish him out. That’s the truth, take it or leave it. Essentially I am saying that "Hating" is phenomena created by distorted psychs of Indians. A rational discussion is a different thing. You can debate Gandhi's position in Indian struggle objectively; but when you HATE him, I am sure something is wrong with your psyche and mental equipment & information processing.

Finally, as I conclude, I am not impressed by these society-wings and intellectual personalities with their skewed rationale who shout, who hate, who demean and who expose only Gandhi’s dark side and make endless criticism. Nothing objective about it! Rather let them pick up a couple of noble lessons that he had imparted to the people of India. Don’t criticise his leadership format which can never be found in any classical management text or in anyone else with such a leadership style. His style of leadership was just unique and it shall remain very unique; often not perceived rightly but easily misunderstood. He is perhaps not a great leader in the understanding of these modern pseudo-intellectuals and the great shouters in 'Anti-Gandhi' movement now; but Gandhi was certainly not a man of their class at least and he had worked tirelessly in spite of many such hate-guys even during his life-time. He is a messiah. And he is a determined Soul of nobility and undeniable saintly character. May people stop talking ill of him if they can’t understand him! May people contribute truthfully in some nonviolent means to this Nation before picking up faults on his biography! Else let them be prepared to get known as some ungrateful and thankless beings of indecent minds!

God bless all!
