It is popularly known as the Indian Rebellion of 1857, which began on this day, May 10, in the year 1857. It was the first major and large-scale rebellion against the East India Company.The First Battle of Independence also has several names like Sepoy Mutiny, Indian Mutiny, Great Rebellion, Revolt of 1857, Indian Insurrection, etc. The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp to commemorate this historical event.
