Scattered to gregarious in duff under Sitka spruce; fruiting from fall through winter in northern coastal mixed hardwood-conifer forests.
Unknown.
Lactarius subviscidus can be distinguished by a dark orange, orange-red to orange-brown, viscid to subviscid cap, white latex that very slowly turns white paper yellow, an acrid taste, and association with Sitka spruce in coastal forests.
