Through these interviews, the Naxal leader reassured the policeman's family that he was safe, and warned the government not to send security forces into this part of West Midnapore.
So who is Kishanji? The 51-year-old is the deputy leader of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist). He is West Bengal's most-wanted man and leads Maoists primarily in Lalgarh, where Naxals led a huge armed revolt against the state, one that they say is supported by thousands of villagers in the area.
Kishanji supports Islamic militancy because of its anti-Us sentiment. Kishanji says like Muslim militants, Naxals are opposed to the "imperialist nature of the US."
