Noted Bengali actress Madhabi Mukherjee was admitted to a private hospital in India as her health condition deteriorated on Friday morning, reports timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

According to the report, Madhabi Mukherjee was hospitalised after her blood sugar level shot up.

The report, referring to family sources, said that the actress was not feeling well for the last few days. As the family members did not want to take any risk, they admitted her to the hospital.

Born on February 10, 1942, Madhabi Mukherjee acted in several films directed by leading filmmakers, including Mrinal Sen, Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Kumar Ghatak, among others.

Among Madhabi Mukherjee-starrer films are Baishey Shravana, Subarnarekha, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Mahanagar, Charulata, Kapurush, Calcutta 71, Thana Theke Aschi and others.

Madhabi Mukherjee has received numerous awards, including National Film Award in Best Actress category in 1970 for film Dibratrir Kabya, Filmfare East Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards in 2017 and others.
