“Among the most humble personalities whom I have encountered, AVM Saravanan is one person who stands out, despite his tall stature as a movie moghul in Kollywood. In fact, I consider him as one of my role models, said industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty.
He was speaking at a function held here recently where two books authored by him, Vettrikodi and Padagakacheri Ramalinga Swamigal, were released. In response, AVM Saravanan merely bowed his head and folded his hands in reverence at the function that comprised an august gathering of personalities from varied fields. Kuppuswamy Chetty added that he and Saravanan belonged to the same generation and were separated by an age difference of one year. “Humility has always been his trademark. The younger generation is always on the lookout to learn something from him,” he said. Incidentally, the function also coincided with the 74th birthday of the textile baron. The first copies of the books, which were released by Justice V Ramasubramaniam of the Madras High Court, were received by L Sabharathnam, chairman of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai. Speakers on the occasion lauded Chetty for his sense of erudition and having authored more than 60 books in his career. They added that the fact the books were based on an assortment of social issues, indicated how knowledgable he was.
