New Delhi: This summer, Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple, popularly known as Tirupati Balaji Temple, witnessed a heavy footfall of devotees to take a glimpse of Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu, and seek his blessings. This ultimately resulted in a huge rush at the temple, compelling the authority to make some changes in the darshan procedure to avoid any mishaps and ease the facilities as well as reduce the waiting time. According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy, the changes will be effective until June 30. This heavy summer vacation rush was reported almost after three years of Covid induced restrictions.

What are the new changes?

For tokenless devotees, it takes nearly 30-40 hours to get a glimpse of Lord Venkateswara at Tirupati Balaji temple. Keeping this in view, TTD has made some changes to Arjita Sevas and VIP Break Darshan.

The TTD has decided to withdraw the discretionary quota in Suprabata Seva for three days, i.e., on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This move by the authority will help in saving 20 minutes for common devotees.

Likewise, it has decided to conduct Tiruppavada Seva on Thursdays in Ekantam. This will help in saving around 30 minutes for the devotees.

In addition to that, the TTD will also not accept VIP recommendation letters on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. However, breaking Darshan for only self-VIPs will be permitted. This move will save around three hours of Darshan time on these respective days.

The temple authority has also requested all devotees, including VIPs, to cooperate with each other so that all visitors can have a comfortable Srivari Darshan.

According to the official website of TTD, presently, there are three pujas held at the temple: the first in the morning in conjunction with Thomala Seva, which is open to the public; the second in Madyahna, in the afternoon; and the third takes place in the night, which is strictly private and only attended by the archakas, paricharakas, and acharya purushas of the temple.
