A day after the Times of India newspaper published an opinion article asking Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to rein in his ministers and leaders making uncivilised speeches, DMK mouthpiece Murasoli shot back calling the newspaper ‘biased.’

“Some (TOI) to show themselves as neutrals, they keep scratching the DMK but they turn blind eye to BJP when its leaders make hate comments,” the Murasoli editorial read.

The article in TOI had criticised DMK minister TM Anbarasan for ‘baring his fangs’ at BJP state chief K Annamalai during a public speech. It also said the remarks of DMK leaders TKS Elangovan and K Ponmudy on imposition of Hindi language in the country ‘went overboard.’ At the same time, it pointed to the ‘abrasive’ speeches of Annamalai as well.

Defending Anbarasan’s comments, the DMK mouthpiece said, “‘Lets cut the tail’ is a phrase that has been generally used in public meetings. The minister was saying that you (BJP) are playing too much and we will stop your game. How did TOI find it wrong? When comments are made against BJP leaders like H Raja, Annamalai and Gurumurthy, why does it matter to TOI?”

Pointing to Annamalai’s controversial behaviour during a press conference in Chennai, Murasoli said, “BJP chief defamed all the journalists asking if they were ‘paid’ for their questions. Did the Times of India send a letter to BJP President JP Nadda asking him to suppress the tongue of Annamalai? Then, why did the Times become Times ‘Off’ India?”

The DMK mouthpiece went on to allege that TN Governor RN Ravi has made several anti-Tamil remarks which was not condemned by the English newspaper.

TOI came up with an editorial with the intention to cover up and make derogatory remarks aganist Stalin’s ‘Dravidian model’ which is gaining traction not only in Tamil Nadu but all over India,” it charged.

“Let the Times ‘turn on’ against the forces that are spewing lies, myths and breaking the peace of the state,” it added.
