Curtly Ambrose

Cricketer Curtly Ambrose

Full Name: Sir Curtly Elconn Lynwall Ambrose
Profession: Cricketer

Biography: Curtly Ambrose is an Antiguan cricketer who is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the history of the game. Standing at 6’7”, his height allowed him to generate a steep bounce which combined with his unerring accuracy made things very difficult for the batsmen he opposed.

Ambrose was an essential part of the West Indian cricket team during the late 80s and throughout the 90s, during which time the team was dominant internationally. He played a key role in many memorable West Indian victories, especially against Australia and England, such as his legendary 7 wickets for 1 run against Australia in Perth in 1993.

Off the field, Ambrose was known for his quiet and reserved demeanor, contrasting sharply with his aggressive and intimidating presence on the cricket field. Since retiring from international cricket in 2000, he has largely concentrated on music while also being inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame.
