Terpsiphone paradisi
Indian Paradise Flycatcher is a bird from the Monarchidae family.Until 2015, the Indian paradise flycatcher, Blyth's paradise flycatcher, and the Amur paradise flycatcher were all considered conspecific, and together called the Asian paradise flycatcher. It variously known as Rocket Bird,Widow Bird and Ribbon bird. The male and female bird differ in appearance. The male itself shows two morphs – white and rufous. Males are distinguished by their clearly broad blue eye-rings and greatly elongated central pair of tail feathers extending up to 25 cm beyond the rest of tail. Females have only one morph, dull rufous-brown with grey eye. Their diet is entirely insectivorous consisting chiefly of flies, moths and butterflies.Indian paradise flycatchers are noisy birds uttering sharp skreek calls like parakeets.

Congratulations Arun, your Indian paradise flycatchers are our Spotting of the Day:
"Show off! This splendid Indian paradise flycatcher (Terpsiphone paradisi) is our Spotting of the Day. The paradise flycatchers (genus Terpsiphone) are characterized by long tail streamers in the males as seen here, and a strong sexual dimorphism between males and females. This spotting showcases excellent front and back views of both male and female Indian paradise flycatchers. Check it out!"
