Cem Y If one needs a reason to watch this movie, here it is: sword. Never seen such scenes executed this well! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Kyle E It's a great origin story, but it doesn't live up to the anime or manga Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review danilo c Enjoyable, started on a serious tone, became goofy at time; the second villain could have had better motives. Awesome depiction of old times Japan. The dilema lived by Kenshin on weather he should kill or not was excellent. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review andy h It's a very fun, high stakes, easy to follow adaptation of a historical fiction magical realism manga that deservedly continued on. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Late R I've never seen the anime this is based on, so I'm not entirely sure how faithful it is to the source material. Still, because it's such an iconic series, I'm still vaguely familiar with the story and as such, I've got to say that this is incredibly well done and must be a candidate for the best live-action anime adaptation ever made (which, as I'm sure you know, are notoriously difficult – impossible, some might say – to get right). ‘Rurouni Kenshin' sensibly resists the temptation to go over-the-top, toning things down where necessary whilst still maintaining just enough of that anime essence so as not to disappoint the fans. The result is an action-packed affair with memorable characters and great fight sequences; something that feels like it's struck the perfect balance. Hella entertaining and a lot of fun. Chris Michael Guardian Behind the adolescent storylines gleams a well-shot swordplay spectacular, featuring a scene-stealing turn from Munetaka Aoki as the Little-John-meets-Ryu-from-Street-Fighter-II sidekick with the 8ft slab of blunt metal. Rated: 3/5 Oct 3, 2013 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse In the first movie, it seemed to me that not much attention was given to the villains, maybe with the exception of Koji Kikkawa who is great as Udo Jine, but even this aspect was "corrected" in the two later parts Apr 13, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
