    • Ma Mati Manush’ is the slogan of the party that
    means  "Mother, Motherland and People“.
    • After the 2019 Indian general election, the party
    status is under revision by the Election
    Commission of India.

    Formation
    • Founded on 1 January 1998 by Mamta Banerjee with a split from INC.

    Important Contribution
    • The protests in Nandigram and Singur in 2006 against the
    CPM government’s firing on peasants and farmers in the
    region. It was popularly known as the Nadigram movement.
    • Bhoomi Uchched Protirodh Committee (BUPC), which
    protested the CPIM’s land-grabbing and eviction policies.
    • AITC also claims to have increase the number of jobs amongst
    the poor people and the minority sections of the society.
    • In its recent ‘Kanyashree’ scheme, the CM declared some
    significant beneficiary policies for girl child in the family.
    Controversies
    • TMC was formed on basis of religious polarisation and
    it continues minority appeasement.
    • TMC practices authoritarian and violent politics
    leading to many incidences of political murders /
    crimes.
    • TMC is accused of rampant corruption in all forms of
    administration.
