Whether you first fell in love with them while watching The Suite Life of Zack and Cody or you've slowly become a fan thanks to their numerous roles in TV shows and movies, Cole and Dylan Sprouse have certainly made a name for themselves in Hollywood. As some of the most famous twins in the world, the Sprouse brothers have gone from pranking their teachers with a little switcheroo to starting their own careers during their adult lives.

So are Cole and Dylan identical twins? And how are you able to tell them apart? Here's everything you need to know about the Sprouse twins...

Are Dylan and Cole Sprouse identical twins?

Yes, they are identical twins. While most people might think that identical twins have to look alike in order to be considered as such, looks have nothing to do with whether or not they are considered as such. In fact, according to the National Human Genome Research Institute, being an identical twin all comes down to genes and how much of it you share. Fraternal twins only share 50 percent of their genes, just like normal siblings. Since the Sprouse brothers share all of their genes, they are considered identical twins.

How are you able to tell Cole and Dylan apart?

Thanks to Cole's role as Jughead Jones in Riverdale, it's actually pretty easy to tell the twins apart. Cole's hair is dyed much darker than Dylan's, who has kept his signature blond locks. However, there's another way to tell them apart other than just hair color. Dylan has a mole on the left side of his upper lip, while Cole has one on the left side of his chin.

Do fans have a hard time telling them apart?

While some people might have had a harder time telling them apart when they were younger, it seems like it's gotten easier to figure out which twin is which as the years have gone by. Even some fans have noted that despite their similarities, it's still pretty easy to tell them apart.
