Scientists thought the Ganges River Shark, Glyphis gangeticus, was extinct. Like other river sharks that live almost entirely in brackish freshwater, this rare shark was elusive and there had been no confirmed sighting of it for a decade. Finally, in February 2016, a 262cm/103" female specimen was spotted in a fish Market in Mumbai, India.
