Sachin Tendulkar, the God of Cricket, played in the IPL during the fag end of his career. Although he had cracked the tests and ODI format, his T20 record was nothing short of quality as the Master Blaster did justice to his role as an opener in the Mumbai Indians setup, despite playing only a solitary T20I for the Indian Cricket Team.

The legendary Indian batter, Sachin Tendulkar, debuted in IPL in its inaugural season with the Mumbai Indians franchise. Leading the team from the start, Sachin scored 188 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 106.21. He missed a few matches due to him suffering a groin injury. Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing 5th. In the following season, Sachin participated in 13 IPL matches, scoring 364 runs at a strike rate of 120.13. Sachin-led Mumbai Indians still suffered in the tournament, ranking seventh in the points table.

In 2010, Sachin played magnificently, scoring a whopping 618 runs in 15 matches. He was the leading run-scorer of the scoring and had an astonishingly high average of 47.53 while also improving his strike rate to 132.61. In the 3rd season alone, Sachin scored five half-centuries. With Sachin leading from the front, his team flourished in the tournament and successfully reached the finals where they lost to CSK.

Sachin Tendulkar IPL Teams from 2008-13

Sachin has been part of the Mumbai Indians squad right from its inception in 2008. The fact that he was a local boy meant that Sachin had a welcome run at his favorite ground, the Wankhede Stadium. He captained the team for a few years and led the team to its first final appearance in 2010.

Sachin became the leading run-scorer in the 2011 IPL season as well. In 16 matches, Sachin scored 553 runs at an average and a strike rate of 42.53 and 113.31. Notably, the star Indian batter also scored his maiden century against the now-defunct team, Kochi Tuskers, in the third match of the season. Similar to the previous season, Mumbai Indians had another good run, reaching the Preliminary Final.

In Sachin’s fifth IPL season, his batting performance started to dip, owing to his retirement from international cricket and decline in age. He scored 324 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 114.48. Sachin, even, gave up his captaincy and recommended Harbhajan Singh as his replacement. In 2013, Sachin announced that it would be his last IPL season. The Little Master scored 287 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 124.24 and won his maiden IPL title in his very last season, with Rohit Sharma captaining the team and giving a fitting farewell to Sachin. After a successful IPL campaign, the Master Blaster retired from all forms of cricket.
