Imtiaz Ali’s 2007 directorial film Jab We Met enjoys a huge fan following. From Shahid Kapoor’s portrayal of an under confident and calm Aditya to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s overzealous and bubbly Geet, fans religiously watch the film and recite the iconic dialogues. Over the past few days, it was rumoured that makers are planning a sequel of the films and the actors who dated each other in the past will be reuniting for the same. As per the speculation, even the director will be involved in the filmmaking process.
Chatter around Shahid and Kareena’s reunion started doing rounds on the internet, leaving the netizens with mixed feelings, given the outcome of most sequels in Bollywood. Now, if a report by Hindustan Times is to be believed, then the actors have no clue where the speculation started from. Quoting a source close to both the actors, the media publication wrote, “It's not true. Shahid has no clue where these rumours started from. Jab We Met became a cult classic upon its release and is considered one of the most noteworthy movies of their career. Talking about the supposed upcoming sequel, HT’s source further added, “Attempting such a project requires guts. For the unversed, Shahid and Kareena have starred together in movies like Fida, 36 China Town, Chup Chup Ke, Jab We Met, Milenge Milenge and Udta Punjab. Having dated for a few years, they ended their relationship in 2007 and moved on in their lives. While he married Mira Rajput Kapoor, she tied the knot with actor Saif Ali Khan. The duo are leading very happy and fulfilled lives with their partners and kids.
On the work front, last seen in Bloody Daddy, Shahid Kapoor will be next seen in Laxman Utekar’s untitled romantic comedy co-starring Kriti Sanon. The movie also stars Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. On the other hand, Kareena will be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s suspense Thriller Jaane Jaan. She also has Hansal Mehta's next and The Crew.
