Just when we thought we knew the basics about Cole and Dylan Sprouse, including being able to tell which twin was which, Netflix has gone and thrown us for a loop.
On February 12, Netflix posted a throwback photo to its Instagram account featuring a very young Cole and Dylan sitting with Ashton Kutcher, from an episode of That '70s Show that the twins guest-starred on back in 2001. Netflix captioned the pic with, "I know you know Cole and Dylan were on Friends, and maybe you know they were also in S4 ep 2 of That 70s Show, but do you know who is who in this image? (Because I don’t...)."
Netflix has a point, though. The longer we stare at this photo, the more we can't tell which twin is which, and that's very confusing, especially because we watch Riverdale every week and should at least be able to spot Cole from a mile away. What is this sorcery? (Is Cole the one on the left??)
Of course, if anyone knows how to make light of the fact that, even from certain angles, Cole and Dylan look almost identical, it's Cole and Dylan. The guys have incorporated jokes about not being able to tell who was who from past projects, such as The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, into their long-running, jokey Twitter roast battle. The most notable (and incredibly good, TBH) example of this was back in 2017, when Cole jokingly tweeted at Dylan, asking, "Were you Zack or Cody?" and Dylan fired right back, "I don't remember actually. I was too busy carrying the show on my back."
At the end of the day, we're not too worried about not being able to tell the difference between Cole and Dylan because we love them equally and that's what matters. But...if they wanted to, say, start labeling these old photos so we could tell them apart, that'd be cool too.
