Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will commission the second phase of the Jatayu Earth’s Centre, the first BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) undertaking of Kerala Tourism, on August 17.

A major highlight of the multicrore tourism centre, spread across 65 acres, is the gigantic Jatayu statue that is 200 feet long, 150 feet wide and 70 feet tall, making it the largest functional bird sculpture in the world.

The Jatayu sculpture can be accessed by a state-of-the-art cable car service, which gives a 360-degree view from the hilltop. The centre is 1,000 feet above sea level and has diverse geographic features, ranging from hills and valleys to caves and cultivable stretches.

The centre has imported 16 cable cars from Switzerland at a cost of ₹40 crore to provide the visitors a mind-blowing view of the Jatayupara by travelling uphill and downhill. The ropeway is installed and operated by Usha Breco Limited.

The Jatayu Earth’s Centre will be a premium tourist spot that offers the facility for local helicopter rides. The centre has already set up a helipad and corresponding facilities for two helicopters at the Jatayupara. At the Jatayu Adventure Park, tourists can opt for an array of adventure sports, including rappelling, jummering, bouldering, valley crossing, archery, vertical ladder and rifle shooting. In the third phase, a museum and 6D theatre inside the Jatayu sculpture will be functional along with an Ayurveda centre designed inside the caves cushioned in between rocks.

The ticket charge will be ₹400, which includes ₹250 for cable car service and ₹150 for entry.

A sum of ₹2,500 will be charged for the package in the adventure park that includes adventure segments and food.
