Hi All,
I'm having trouble finding a clear, easy to understand diagram for the wiring on my 72 beetle's speedo. Any advice Will be appreciated. Thanks |

Where'd you find that last diagram pic? That's great! |
I believe that I found all three diagrams on The Samba and saved them as Image files onto my computer.
Funny thing, on my own 1970 and 1971, the few times I had to remove the speedometer to repair/clean-lube one, I simply drew my own diagram.
Now I have a spare speedometer I purchased for $10 at a swap meet, sits in a box.... _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. These may help

You have the spade plug at the very bottom listed as power for the warning lights in the first picture but ground for the gauge in the second picture. On mine it's the same wire that attaches to the fuel gauge vibrator. Isn't this power for both? _________________ 1972 Volkswagen baja Super Beetle "Elizabeth"

You are correct, the second picture is incorrect concerning that terminal (these pictures were NOT created by me, I'm not so computer-literate). That is a positive connection for the three lower warning lights. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Cool thanks for clarifying! I had a loose connection at my fuel gauge vibrator (worn out factory spade plug) that I replaced last night and it seemed to have fixed my fuel gauge, but now the gauge is reading full again and my indicator light is out even though my indicators are working. So I'll be referring to this first image to trouble shoot later on _________________ 1972 Volkswagen baja Super Beetle "Elizabeth"
