Tirunelveli Election Result 2019: DMK's Gnanadraviyam S has won by 1,85,457 votes and will be Tirunelveli MP

Tirunelveli Election Result 2019: Gnanadraviyam of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has won the election against Paul Manoj Pandian of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

The Tirunelveli constituency is one of the 39 seats in the state of Tamil Nadu which are up for election in the 2019 general election. The constituency is one of the oldest Lok Sabha constituencies in India. It is divided into six State Legislative Assembly segments. The result of the general election has been announced and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Gnanadraviyam S has won with a margin of 1,85,457 votes. He was competing against Paul Manoj Pandian of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). 

Tirunelveli Election result 2019 as it happened:

5.30 pm: Gnanadraviyam S has now bagged 5,15,630 and Paul Manoj Pandian has garnered 3,34,522 votes. 

2.42 pm: Till now, 7,84,882 votes have been counted till now. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Gnanadraviyam S is still leading and has bagged 3,88,413 votes till now. Meanwhile, Paul Manoj Pandian of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is trailing behind him 2,58,450 votes. 

11.21 am: Gnanadraviyam S of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is leading with 1,32,443 votes (48.19 per cent of votes counted till now). Independent candidate S. Michael Rayappan is trailing with 20,472 votes. Behind him is Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate is Sathya B with 13,716 votes. 

Tirunelveli Election Result 2019 @ 8.25 am: The counting has begun. Former Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha PH Paul Manoj Pandian from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is contesting against Gnanadraviyam of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Chennai: The Tirunelveli constituency in the Lok Sabha from the state of Tamil Nadu went to polls in the second phase of the 2019 general elections on April 18. Former Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha PH Paul Manoj Pandian from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was contesting against Gnanadraviyam of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Former MLA S Michael Rayappan was fielded by the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) while the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) was represented by M Vennimalai. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate was E Essakkiammal and the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate was Sathya B.

The 2014 general elections saw KRP Prabakaran of the AIADMK defeat Devadasa Sundaram of the DMK with a margin of 13.1 per cent or 1,26,099 votes. 

PH Paul Manoj Pandian of the AIADMK has served in the Rajya Sabha from 2010 to 2016.

The byelections for 18 out of the 22 vacant State Assembly seats were also held simultaneously on April 18 following the disqualification of 18 members from the AIADMK for defecting from the party by moving a non-confidence motion against Edappadi K Palaniswami-led Tamil Nadu government and shifting their allegiance to AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran. 

The results for the polls will be declared on May 23 establishing the 17th Lok Sabha of the nation.
