Mamata Banerjee calls central agencies biased

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today issued her first reaction after the Calcutta High Court transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the case pertaining to the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Sandehskhali. Banerjee alleged that the central agencies are "biased" as her party moved the Supreme Court against the High Court order.
She said, "The 'Garjan Brigade' has been called on the coming March 10 March. I urge all those people to hold a strong protest on March 10 against the efforts that are being made to defame Bengal and Bengal officials. I request all of you to reach the brigade by 11:30 to 12 pm."

BJP: 'TMC Exposed'

On the other hand, BJP said "the court has exposed TMC". Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, "Sheikh Shahjahan was given protection by West Bengal government. The issue was raised by BJP and media.. and finally Mamata Banerjee had to show him arrested. They also did drama of expelling him from Party."
He added, "Police was working as extended arm of TMC just to save Sheikh Shahjahan for appeasement politics. Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee always protected him. It's clear now who was trying to save Sheikh Shajahan. Kharge on Sandeshkhali said these small incidents keep on happening. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has never spoken on this. Why has she not spoken anything? You went to Hathras but you are completely silent on Sandeshkhali."
A division bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya set aside an earlier order constituting an SIT with members of the state police. The court further directed the Bengal Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to hand the jailed politician to the CBI by 4:30 pm today (Tuesday) and share all documents related to the case.
Shahjahan Sheikh was arrested and suspended from the Trinamool Congress last week. His arrest came after the Calcutta High Court had directed that absconding Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh can be arrested by the CBI, ED or the West Bengal Police.
West Bengal government had constituted a SIT to probe the case. The investigation in the case was handed over to the CID by the state government from the Basirhat Police after Sheikh's arrest, who is now in police remand of the CID.
Later, an application was moved by the CBI, which believed that the State Police's custody of Sheikh would frustrate the purpose of the investigation, which involved him masterminding an assault on members of a central agency.
