Dikshit suffered from cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and was put on ventilator on Saturday, July 20.

A well-known politician and the longest-serving chief minister of Delhi, Dikshit introduced the Delhi Metro and was also an Indian delegate to the United Nations Commission.

While she was loved all over the country as a politician, she was also a favourite of her family members. Here are the details of her family members who now mourn her demise:

Husband

Dikshit was married to Vinod Dikshit, son of Uma Shankar Dikshit, an Indian politician who worked closely with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The two met in college and it was only a matter of time that their budding friendship developed into romance. Vinod went on to become as Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer while his wife found her calling in politics.

Latika also alleged that her husband had robbed her of jewellery and valuables.

Son

Dikshit's son, Sandeep Dikshit followed the footsteps of his mother and joined the Indian National Congress. Sandeep was born on August 15, 1964, in Uttar Pradesh. With a degree in History from Delhi University's St Stephens College, Sandeep now teaches Human Development and Public Policy at the Jindal Institute of Government and Public Policy.
