How To Make An Origami Butterfly

Download our step by step instructions to create your own beautiful origami butterflies full of gorgeous pattern. Each instruction is supported by a photograph so you can clearly see each fold needed to complete this origami project, and we'll even demonstrate how to add the beautiful black patterns onto these origami butterflies for a sophisticated finish.

These beautiful origami butterfly crafts are a great origami craft for KS2 children. The folds are easy to follow and repeated to create the symmetry of the butterfly. Each origami butterfly needs only a rectangle of thin paper 8cm x 12cm. We recommend using origami paper for this craft, or thin paper due to the number of folds needed.

Children will love showing others their crafty paper folding skills as they rustle up a flutter of paper butterflies using their new origami paper craft skills. This origami butterfly craft would be a great boredom buster for any school holidays – just paper and pens and you’re off! The paper butterflies could also be used to make an amazing display with each child adding their origami butterfly for a collaborative art project.

Origami is a great way for children to embed and apply their mathematical vocabulary learning from shape lessons. Make a flutter of origami butterflies in every colour and pattern you can think of with these origami instructions. You could even use tissue paper or newspaper.
