Renault India Crosses 9 Lakh Sales

Renault India started their operations back in 2011 with the launch of the Fluence sedan. The same year, Renault also introduced the Koleos SUV, with both models targeting the premium segment of the Indian market. To serve the budget-conscious consumers, Renault India later launched models like the Duster SUV, Pulse hatchback and Scala sedan. The Duster turned out to be a runaway success for the carmaker, carving out its own niche segment in the Indian market. The carmaker also launched the Lodgy MPV and Captur crossover but both models found little success in the market.

As of today, the Duster is no longer on sale and the India portfolio of Renault consists of 3 offerings — Kwid hatchback, Triber MPV and Kiger SUV. The Renault Kwid sits on the brand's heavily localised CMF-A platform and the Triber and Kiger use the more advanced CMF-A+ platform. Furthermore, over the years, Renault have also managed to foster a network of 450+ sales touchpoints and 530 service touchpoints over the past decade.

Commenting on the achievement of this milestone, Venkatram Mamillapalle, CEO and Managing Director, Renault India, said, “We are extremely thrilled to have crossed the 9-lakh sales milestone in India. This incredible journey has been made possible by the unwavering support and belief in the brand from our esteemed customers, dedicated dealer partners, valued suppliers, and our exceptional team of employees and engineering professionals. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to this remarkable achievement. Over the last few years, we have established a strong foundation in India. Our company’s commitment to the Indian Government's 'Make in India' vision is unwavering and Renault aims to attain 90% localization for its upcoming products.”

Venkatram confirmed that the future models from Renault India will achieve over 90% localisation, following the Make In India vision of the Indian government. This hints at the new range of Renault SUVs, including the Duster replacement, to boast 90% localisation, which could result in competitive pricing.
