Three weeks after Peaches Geldof was mysteriously found dead at the age of 25, The Times of London is reporting that the TV presenter, writer, and model died of a heroin overdose. Making the report even sadder is the fact that Geldof’s own mother, Paula Yates, also died tragically of a heroin overdose, in 2000. The Times draws other parallels between the sad events—noting that Paula and Peaches were both mothers to young children when they died. And like Paula, who was caring for Peaches’s sister Tiger Lily at the time of her overdose, Peaches was reportedly caring for her 11-month-old son Phaedra at the time of her own passing.
Additional details, per The Times:
In 2012, Geldof spoke to Elle magazine about how the birth of her two sons helped her get over her mother’s death. “His [oldest son Astala’s] birth was like a rebirth for me, and I honestly never thought anything in my life would ever be good.”
Hours before she was found dead, Peaches cryptically posted a photo of her with her mother on Instagram, captioned “me and my mum.”
